On one side of this pyramid you can access the L’avancher bowl (use the Bochard lift ). On a powder day this enormous bowl, steep at entry and then opening out, is full of excellent terrain and rock drops, and is so large you can pick your own route down it. The Dru side of the Grands Montets pyramid are the pas de chevre couloirs which empty out into the Mer de Glace. These 4 couloirs are approached from Les Grands Montets lift, and are testing, but are long straight powder runs. Gradient is perfect on these shoots, and some feel they are some of the best riding in Cham.

The Argentiere side of the pyramid holds the Argentiere Glacier, the wall, the Italian bowl, the secret stash, and the alternative route home. Ripping in between rocks, dropping perfect wind lips, slashing little natural quarters, cliff drops, and……there is even a secret hotel up on the glacier where you can have a little rest. The front face is very wide and can be entered from all three of the main lifts. The Hearse 6 man chair is so new, it is still shining. The forest of dreams, the Cigar Bowl, the famous bochard piste, the freestyle Hearse catrack route, and the terrain park are all worth finding. There is a huge range of runs here from blue to black and it would be possible to spend an entire week on this mountain without doing even a small percentage of what is available.

Even from the mid-station there is so much riding to do. In a huge forest, there are steep couloirs everywhere. Phillipe, and the Chosalet couloirs are perfect. Plus don’t forget the Pierre Ric, what time can you do?
