Liptovsky Mikulas; Historical and picturesque town with large old square modernised with water features and  plentiful restaurants and bars. Also shops, banks, museums. Very cheap food and beer. Has good road access, train station and bus services. Regular ice hockey matches in town. A soak in central Europes' largest hot springs aqua park - just five minutes from town - is included in a weeks holiday.

The Tatra Ranges are the extreme Western end of the fabled Carpathian mountains, and boast the highest peaks.
